About Us:

Thank you for visiting our website. We’d like to invite you to visit with us at one of our regular times of worship or Bible class. For many, visiting a new congregation can be a little daunting, never knowing what to expect. So, what can you expect with us?
At the Church of Christ in Petal, our desire is to serve God according to His plan, not man's.

Bible Classes:

We offer classes for all ages, from small children to adults. Our desire is to help everyone come to a better understanding of God’s Word and His plan in their lives. Our Bible studies are just that, studies in the Bible. We’re not looking for the latest trends or man’s ideas, but what God’s Word reveals to us and how it applies to us today.

Worship:

Our worship is neither traditional nor contemporary. We strive not to follow the traditions of men, but what is revealed in God’s word.

Just like Jesus and His disciples, we sing songs of praise to God as a congregation. We strive to teach and admonish one another in these songs – Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16. We do not use instruments of music simply because we can find no authority for them from the New Testament Scriptures.

We partake of the Lord’s Supper every 1st day of the week. Again, we feel that this is in keeping with the example of the apostles and the 1st Century church. The night Jesus was to be betrayed, He instituted this supper to be a remembrance of the sacrifice He was about to make for all of mankind. The apostle Paul tells us “For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.” – 1 Cor. 11:26
In the New Testament we see that the Christian’s partook of the Lord’s Supper only on the 1st day of the week. Unlike many religious organizations, we do this every Sunday.

In our worship services we read from God’s Word, we pray to God as a congregation, and we have Bible based sermons.

We never ask our guests for any financial contributions. We believe, according to the Scriptures that is required only of the members of the local congregation. Please know, we expect nothing more from our visitors except an open heart, an open mind and an open Bible.
